SELECTING A SINK - Make sure you select a sink that is durable. Stainless steel has been an industry favorite for years, because it is very durable and easily matches all kitchen color schemes. The thicker the stainless steel in theory, the more expensive the sink will be.

The lower the gauge number the heavier the sink or thicker the stainless steel. For example: 18-gauge is heavier than 20-gauge.

Under mount sinks are very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, because they do not sit on top of the counter, which gives a clean and finished appearance. It makes for easy counter top cleaning, due to no lip to wipe over or to catch crumbs.
